Mrs. Elizabeth Stafford Milliner
Mrs. Elizabeth Stafford Milliner holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education, a Master's degree in Counseling and a Postgraduate degree in Content Area Reading. She began her career at the historical Jessup W. Scott High School in Toledo, Ohio. She was the first African American female to teach Health, Physical Education and Swimming in the state of Ohio. Mrs. Stafford also taught Physical Fitness in the first Upward Bound Program at Toledo University. After leaving Toledo and moving to Troy, Ohio she joined Piqua City Schools teaching staff where she remained until retirement. Mrs. Stafford will tell you that God brought her to a good place; she and her students experienced great joy and love for each other. She exemplifies the principles of servant leadership by serving her students and the community.
Mrs. Stafford is a member and one of the founders of New Life Baptist church where Dr. Gene Moore Jr. is her pastor. Under her leadership, in the summer of 1999, an eight-week tutorial program was organized providing individualized instruction to enhance reading and math skills. Mrs. Stafford continues to impact countless lives by providing after-school tutoring and mentoring. She has a genuine love for people and teaching. Ms. Stafford inspires others by continually pouring wisdom and positive affirmations into them.
Mrs. Stafford’s students encouraged and helped her to start a business in 1983. She is the owner of Stafford Uniquely Sports Store located in Troy Ohio.
